West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus is setting his sights on an even more impressive 2024/2025 season, with aspirations of securing a European finish for the club.
Following a standout debut season where he contributed to 24 goals in 46 matches, Kudus is determined to build on his success and make a significant impact.
The 24-year-old Ghanaian midfielder made an immediate impression at West Ham, highlighted by memorable moments such as his overhead kick against Manchester City and a notable goal against Freiburg in the Europa League.
Kudus’ transition from Ajax to West Ham was challenging, but he credited his teammates and coaches with helping him adapt to the Premier League.
“Good start to announce myself. The help of the team, the teammates, everyone around the club helped to settle in the game as well,” Kudus said in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo.
“It’s the beginning; I still have much to show. So I take that and build on it towards the season.”
Kudus expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from West Ham fans, which he described as surprising and encouraging.
His positive relationship with supporters has made the club feel like home to him.
“The connection and the love from the fans in a short period is amazing. It’s shocking to me how the fans embraced my style of play and how I carry myself,” he added.
“It comes with many responsibilities, but playing in a club like this is a pleasure.”
As West Ham prepares for the new season, Kudus is focused on improving his goal tally and helping the team secure a spot in European competition. The club finished eighth in the Premier League last season, and Kudus is determined to push for a top-six finish.
“The goal is to qualify for Europe this season and challenge the top six,” Kudus said. “As a player, I’m just trying to use my skills and abilities to help the team qualify for the European stage next season.”
Kudus is excited about adding a new dimension to his game and anticipates a more dynamic season.
He also reflected on a touching moment from preseason, where he held a young fan’s baby during training.
“It’s the little things that matter in life,” Kudus explained. “I’m happy to put a smile on people’s faces. It’s nice to make people happy, and I’m grateful for those moments.”
West Ham United will kick off their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa at home. Kudus is eager to make his mark from the start, hoping to reach double figures for goals under new manager Julien Lopetegui.
