Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus reached a significant milestone by making his 50th appearance for West Ham United in a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage against Fulham over the weekend. This milestone reflects his consistent presence on the field and his growing influence on the team.

Kudus, who played the entire match, witnessed West Ham skipper Jarrod Bowen set up Danny Ings for a late equalizer in stoppage time. Kudus’ performance in this game was marked by his [specific contributions], demonstrating his continued dedication to the team despite his goal-scoring drought.

Kudus, 24, joined West Ham in the summer of 2023, signing a five-year contract after the club secured his transfer from Ajax for €43 million.

Since then, he has made 37 league appearances, four domestic cup appearances, and nine continental appearances for the Hammers. During this period, he has netted 14 goals across all competitions.

However, Kudus is experiencing a goal-scoring drought at the start of the 2024-25 season.

He has yet to score in five games this term, with his last goal coming on the final day of the previous season against Manchester City. Despite his efforts, including a notable attempt redirected into the net by Jarrod Bowen in the League Cup against Bournemouth, Kudus has struggled to find the back of the net this season. However, his [specific strengths or contributions] have been instrumental in [specific team achievements or performances], highlighting his value to the team beyond scoring goals.

The ongoing managerial transition from David Moyes to Julen Lopetegui has had a significant impact on West Ham’s form. The team has managed only four points from their first four games under Lopetegui, and Kudus has yet to score in any of the four Premier League matches.

Kudus’ current goal-scoring drought is reminiscent of past challenges. His longest previous goal-scoring drought was nine games, ending with a goal against Newcastle on March 30. Before his goal against Manchester City, he had also endured a seven-game goal-less stretch.

Despite West Ham’s recent struggles and a challenging start to the new season, the club made significant summer signings, including Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luis Guilherme, Crysencio Summerville, Max Kilman, and Niclas Füllkrug. Nonetheless, the team is six points behind their standing at the same stage last season.

Kudus and his West Ham teammates are gearing up to face Chelsea in an upcoming London derby. This match could be the turning point they need to change their fortunes this season.
