Arwuah says he has done enough in South Africa to deserve a Black Stars call-up
AmaZulu midfielder, John Arwuah, believes that the football authorities in his country, Ghana, are taking the South Africa top-flight and the rest of the other African leagues seriously than in the past.
?Initially, I thought they don?t recognise the South African league because a number of players in the national team of Ghana are European-based. However, they have been calling players like (Edwin) Gyimah and Mohammed Awal lately.
?So it looks like they have changed their focus to the PSL as well. Some of the guys here do get the call ups. I mean (Fatau) Dauda, Awal and Gyimah are here. They are paying attention to the PSL now ? unlike in the past when they didn?t pay attention to any African leagues,? said Arwuah.
Although Arwuah has been unlucky with a call up to the national team, he told the Siya crew that he will still work hard and hope that he gets to represent Ghana at senior level in the future.
?I?ve captained a team like Maritzburg United in the PSL. I?ve been playing regularly almost every season. Sometimes it?s about luck. I?ve never been lucky in terms of the call-ups.
?They do know that there is a player like me and that I?m playing regularly in South Africa. Sometimes you just don?t understand. You just have to work harder as a player. There is no need to complain ? you must complain on the field of play. God will reward you,? explained Arwuah.
