Great has been the joy of scores of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters since The Informer newspaper broke the story last Monday of the setting up of Atta-Mills Foundation. Since the publication, phone lines of The Informer have not stopped jamming as supporters try to make?inquiries?about the Foundation.

Not a single caller has not expressed great joy and gratitude to Drs. (Mrs.) Ernestina Naadu Mills and Cadman Atta-Mills, for putting in place a structure that will immortalise the good works of the late President Atta-Mills, as well as, keep his name forever etched on the mind of Mother Ghana.

According to the interested persons, they have no doubt that the Foundation will be the pivot around which the NDC evolves into the future.

?We know President Atta-Mills is not dead; he has only left this sinful and wicked world, to a better place where he can rest. It is our duty to keep his memory alive, and we shall all support the Foundation to succeed,? one of the callers said.

?There is no doubt that President Atta-Mills gave a new image to the NDC as well as politics in Ghana, and we know that his Foundation will open a new chapter in the politics of both the NDC and Mother Ghana,? another caller retorted.

The joy of the setting up of the Foundation has not been limited to only NDC supporters.

The Informer has also received a couple of calls from Corporate Bodies and some private individuals, who are in a hurry to contribute financially to the take-off and sustenance of the Foundation.

When The Informer contacted its sources as regards an account number to which the donations could be channelled, the source intimated that the full details of the name of the bank and the account number would be made public very soon.

?We are in the last stages of securing the account number, and once that happens, we will make it public,? the source said.

A caller, who said she was a 71-year-old pensioner, said she was prepared to contribute the little that she can, from her pension, to support the Foundation.

?Atta Mills was a good man and a real father of this dear country of ours and my heart will be filled with so much joy, if I contribute my widow?s mite to his Foundation,? the old lady told The Informer.

From all indications, the Atta-Mills Foundation is set to hit the ground running, and if what The Informer is picking up works, according to plan, the Foundation will really leave a lasting mark, both in Ghana and beyond the country?s borders.
