More Money For FEPSGA Athletes

Minister of Information, Labaran Maku

The Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, has pledged cash and material donations to the ministry?s athletes due to participate in the 2013 edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA).

The Benue and Ondo States are jostling to host the 2013 annual FEPSGA taking place in November.

Maku made the pledged while answering questions during an interactive session with members of staff of the ministry on Monday in Abuja.

The minister, who said that lack of adequate funding had affected the smooth execution of the ministry?s programmes, assured the athletes of improved funding for their activities.

He said that cash prizes to all medal winners in the next edition of the games would be increased to encourage hard work and commitment.

He said the ministry was making a case for additional funding from the SURE-P to enable the ministry meet its set goals and objectives.

“The primary worry here is lack of fund and that is our most difficult challenge in the running of this ministry.

“We are trying our best to see how we can get additional funding from other sources to improve the working condition in the ministry,?? he said.

Maku urged the staff of the ministry not to be discouraged by the present situation but to work harder to enable the ministry achieve its set goals and objectives.
He said interactive session would be held regularly henceforth to discuss the challenges facing the staff and to proffer solutions to them.
