A total of 17,740 final year Junior High School students from 655 public and private schools in the Western North Region would write the year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), beginning November 15, 2021.

The figure comprises 9, 214 males and 8, 529 females.

In all, 14,449 candidates are from public schools and 3,241 from private schools.

The examination would be conducted in 82 centres across the Region.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu, District Education Director, said the Regional Education Directorate had made the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination.

He advised teachers to motivate and encourage their students to enable them to pass well.

Mr Owusu asked community members not to invade the examination centres but allow officials to do their work.

He cautioned the students against examination malpractices and expressed the hope that the Region would improve on last year’s performance.

He asked parents and guardians to provide their wards with the needed assistance during the examination period to enable them to get to the examination centres on time.
