The photographer was beaten up by people allegedly in Ogunsola’s employ last month

Lagos police have arraigned Bayo Ogunsola, the director of TOS Funerals, a mortuary at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, for allegedly assaulting a photographer with Leadership Newspapers, Benedict Uwalaka on August 9, 2012.

Ogunsola was arraigned before a Magistrate?s Court in Ikeja, on a two counts charge bordering on assault and inflicting of injury.

The 29-year-old accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Ogunsola and another person still at large, allegedly committed the offences when relatives of victims of the June 3 Dan Air crash came to the mortuary to collect the identified bodies.

Uwalaka was allegedly beaten by about five youths and his Nikon Camera worth N715,000 was destroyed and seized while trying to restrain him from taking the photographs of the corpses.

Ogunsola’s lawyer, Kunle Carew urged the judge, E.O. Ogunkanmi to grant his client bail based on self recognition but the Justice Ogunkanmi refused the request and instead granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

The magistrate said the surety must be a ?responsible citizen? who must be resident in Lagos, and adjourned the matter to October 4 for trial.
