The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is studying the possibility of a visit by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, the Russian news agency RIA Novosti quoted a ministry official as saying on Tuesday.
Kerry told reporters on Tuesday that he plans to visit Moscow to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Vladimir Putin to discuss issues related to Syria.
Kerry did not give a date for the planned visit, but his spokesman John Kirby later told reporters that it would be after next Tuesday, when the top U.S. diplomat returns from a trip to Cuba with President Barack Obama.
Kerry travelled to Moscow in December to bridge gaps over ways to end the Syrian conflict. Enditem
