A middle-aged woman, Mrs Ayesi Balogun, was at the weekend killed by some unknown Fulani herdsmen at her village in Asa, Yewa North local government area of Ogun State.
The late Mrs Balogun, was also allegedly raped before being hacked to death by her assailants, according to a release signed by the Ketu Advancement Front Coordinator and Secretary, Kunle Abiose and Joseph Bankole respectively who said that the woman was hacked to death in her farm.
The statement, which was sent to relevant authorities read, in part: ?We are sad to announce that Mrs Ayesi Balogun, a poor mother of three was raped and hacked to death on her farm in Asa, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State over the weekend by Fulani herdsmen. On sighting her entering the farm, the killerherdsmen who had taken over her farm pounced on her, probably gang raped her before hacking her to death?.
?Mrs Balogun?s case brought to over twenty-five, the number of our innocent and poor people who had been sent to their early graves in seriously agonising and dehumanising circumstances not to talk of
several others who had been maimed?.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, said the allegation was yet to be confirmed but added that there been a series of fight between Fulani herdsmen and the youths in the town and that
about three days ago, the dead body of a Fulani man was found in the bush in the town.
He said the Police had invited the youth leaders in the town and some Fulani men for a meeting on Tuesday.
