The Supreme Court of Mozambique ruled Wednesday in Maputo that Pakistani citizen Tanveer Ahmed, known as the kingpin “Galby” in the drug trafficking circle, should be extradited to the United States.
The group of judges concluded that there is sufficient evidence to rule for his extradition, because drug trafficking, the crime of which he is accused of, is also punished in Mozambique.
An arrest warrant issued by a U.S. court in Texas accusing Ahmed of being involved in international drug trafficking in southern Africa and other regions.
Ahmed was arrested in October 2018 in Maputo province with two other Tanzanians in possession of 34 kg of cocaine and 2 kg of hashish.
Ahmed’s lawyer said there is room for appeal should his defendant request not to be extradited to the U.S. Enditem
