The National Director of Labor, Marta Mathe, said that this number represents the double of the plan to create jobs for the government’s 20-year program.

She said reforms at the political level, more integration in various sectors, investments in telecommunications and construction sectors, had contributed to the positive results.

According to Mathe, the labor ministry will on Wednesday launch a project to work out national labor policy aimed at improving management of the labor market, with a focus on training.

She added among other the government’s objectives of the national employment policy is to improve the labor market.

Big projects, such as the coal exploration in Moatize district in the northwestern province of Tete, and the gas project in the Ruvuma River basin in the northernmost province of Cabo Delgado, will contribute to the reduction of unemployment in the country.

Projects set up by Chinese companies in the building sector and roads and bridges, have also played a major role in easing unemployment problem in Mozambique, according to Mathe. Enditem
