Mr Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tempane Constituency has presented some teaching and learning materials valued at about GHC28, 000 to Junior and Senior high schools in the constituency.
The MP who is also the Deputy Minister for Justice and Attorney General presented five exercise books to each student in all the Junior high schools and a tricycle to the Tempane senior high school to promote quality teaching and learning to promote the standards of education in the area.
Presenting the items,Mr Kpemka indicated that education and health were his major priority areas and said he was making efforts to ensure that his constituents enjoyed quality education and health in fulfillment of his campaign promise.
Mr Kpemka presented the items to Barboako Junior high, Tempane Junior and senior high schools among other schools in the constituency.
The MP said as part of efforts to promote quality education, he was supporting 100 students to pursue various courses in tertiary institutions across the country with his common fund.
Addressing a durbar of students at the Tempane Senior high school, the MP gave the assurance that he would sponsor the best students from the JHS to the SHS levels apart from the free SHS programme government had rolled out.
He announced that he had put in place a special scholarship scheme to sponsor additional 20 students from the Tempane senior high to pursue any career course of their choice in any tertiary institution across the country and pledged to provide the Tempane Senior
High School with infrastructure including an ultra-modern dining hall, a state of the art dormitory and a library to compliment the efforts of the school authorities.
The Deputy Minister presented two motorbikes to the Tempane health centre and promised to work on the roads in the constituency to facilitate free and easy movement of people and goods in the area.
He tasked the students to eschew social vices such as truancy, alcoholism, the use of hard drugs and pre-marital sex, but to study hard to achieve their future prospects.
Mr Edward Azure, District Director of Education for the area who received the items on behalf of the schools commended the MP for his support and appealed to him to use his position to lobby government to complete all abandoned educational projects.
