Mpanda District Commissioner Dr Rajab Rutengwe
Mpanda District Commissioner, Dr. Rajab Rutengwe has ordered Police in Mpanda to arrest a Police Constable, Edward Mushi, for allegedly impregnating a 16 year-old school girl.
The DC was compelled to issue the order following complaints from the public that the constable had impregnated a Form Two school girl studying at Misunkumilo Secondary. It was alleged that the suspect and one of his bosses were trying to frame someone else.
But, according to Dr Rutengwe who doubles as the District Security and Defence Committee’s Chairperson, preliminary investigations show that the suspect had an intimate relationship with the girl since she was in Form One. The DC elaborated that when interrogated by the authorities, the student confessed that she was pregnant and mentioned the suspect as being responsible for her pregnancy.
It was alleged that after the suspect realized that the girl had mentioned his name, and case file RB number 661/2012 was opened at Mpanda Central Police, he attempted to evade the case. When contacted for comment, the Rukwa Regional Police Commissioner, Mr Isuto Mantage admitted to have been informed of the incident, saying he had already ordered action on the case file immediately.
“He will be court-martialled and prosecuted later in a court of law,” added the RPC.
