MTN Ghana has donated a total of 22 hampers to mothers of babies born on Christmas Day at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The items in the hampers contained antiseptic soap, baby diapers, wipes, face, and body towels, baby clothes, disinfectants, powder, washing powder, and pacifiers.

Mr Godfred Kwarteng, Manager, MTN Fixed Broadband Ghana said the company decided to share in the joy of mothers who delivered on December 25, and to help them celebrate their births.

He said each hamper cost a little over GH¢300.00 and will be giving about 50 of them to some selected hospitals in Kumasi.

MTN commenced the baby hamper distribution in 2011, and has so far distributed over 2,000 hampers including this year’s to babies born on Christmas Day.

Mr Kwarteng said the donation was one of the many ways the MTN Ghana Foundation had catered for the health needs of several individuals and medical institutions across Ghana.

This year MTN is distributing a total of 500 hampers at a cost of GH¢150,000.00 across Ghana.

Mr Kwarteng congratulated the mothers on successful deliveries and used the occasion to wish MTN customers and stakeholders a prosperous New Year.

Mrs Fuseina Haruna, a Staff Midwife at one of the delivery wards commended MTN Ghana for the donation and called on benevolent institutions to support new born mothers who had financial challenges in settling discharge bills at the hospital.

She used the occasion to advise pregnant mothers to report early to the hospital when they detected any complications in pregnancy.

All the mothers who received the gifts expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana and pledged to put them to good use.
