MTN Ghana Foundation together with its employee volunteers has embarked on another charitable endeavour by donating hampers to four hospitals in Accra to be given to mothers delivered on Christmas and Boxing Day.
The four hospitals include Pentecost Hospital, Madina Polyclinic Kekele, Madina Polyclinic Rawlings Circle, and Legon Hospital.
Each hamper, comprised blankets, diapers, wipes, towels, shawls, bibs, toiletries, clothes, and other baby essentials.
The Chief Customer Relations Officer, MTN, Mrs. Jemima Kotei Walsh, presenting the hampers to mothers, noted the donation was part of activities lined up by the MTN Ghana Foundation to brighten lives during the yuletide.
“Christmas as we all know is a season for showing love and sharing with one another, so as always, we aim to put smiles on the faces of mothers through these donations,” she explained.
According to her, the distribution of baby gifts began in 2011 and has since seen over 2,000 hampers distributed to babies born on Christmas and Boxing Day.
This she said, the Foundation this year, distributed a total of 500 hampers at a cost of GHS150,000 across the country.
The Head of Nursing and Midwifery at the Pentecost Hospital, Madam Ninette Dankwah Agyare, who received the items on the mothers commended MTN Ghana for their kind gesture; adding that the hampers will go a long way to help the beneficiaries.
“In 16 babies were delivered at the hospital on Christmas, whereas 10 babies were delivered on Boxing Day.“This is the first time that our hospital has recorded such a high number of deliveries”, she indicated.
The mothers who received the hampers were ecstatic to receive the unexpected Christmas baby packages. They praised MTN Ghana Foundation for the heartfelt gesture.
