MTN Ghana’s Chief Digital Officer, Dario Bianchi, announced his departure in a LinkedIn post, effective next month.
This follows the recent exit of Eli Hini, former CEO of MTN MoMo PBS in Nigeria, who had previously served as the first MTN MoMo CEO in Ghana.
In his post, Bianchi revealed that he will take a few weeks off before starting a new venture in September. Reflecting on his tenure, he highlighted his achievements and contributions over more than five years with the company.
While at MTN Ghana, Bianchi held vital roles, including General Manager for Digital and Innovations and later Chief Digital Officer.
He was pivotal in launching several initiatives, such as the My app, generating revenue for the Chenosis platform, introducing Ayoba, and establishing the first broadband e-shop.
His efforts were central to MTN’s push to transition from USSD to digital platforms.
Numerous industry accolades marked Bianchi’s leadership, and his team received several awards under his guidance.
Before joining MTN Ghana, Bianchi amassed significant experience in the telecommunications and technology sectors across Africa and other markets.
In his LinkedIn announcement, Bianchi expressed gratitude for his time in Ghana and MTN and acknowledged the extensive list of accomplishments achieved during his tenure.
He thanked his team, which grew from three to nearly 30 members, and credited MTN Ghana’s success to the support of its Executive Committee and CEO, Stephen Blewett.
Bianchi also noted his growth and experiences in Ghana, including discovering surfing and earning running medals, which he said would remain a cherished part of his memories.
He thanks his former boss, Selorm Adadevoh, for facilitating his achievements.
In closing, Bianchi bid farewell to Ghana and MTN, expressing appreciation for an unforgettable chapter in his life.
