MTN Ghana has taken another giant step by launching a project dubbed: “U4Know” to help sensitise mobile money users on fraudulent activities.

Speaking at the launching ceremony which was held in Accra, at Agbogbloshie, the General Manager for MTN Mobile Money limited, Mr Eli Hini noted that, the awareness campaign is aimed at educating the masses on the modus operandi of the mobile money fraudsters and how to overcome them.

“We have decided to run this campaign in the communities in which we operate ours businesses. So today we are here to sensitise the residents of Agbogbloshie and its environs about this new project,” he explained.

According to him, MTN Ghana has fortified its robust IT system which allows technicians to deal swiftly reported cases of fraud mobile money irrespective of one’s location. This he said, the company would continue to invest in infrastructure expansion and improved services.

This he said, as the pioneers and leaders of Mobile financial services in Ghana, they have not relented in their efforts to continually educate Ghanaians on the benefits that mobile money provides within the financial ecosystem

As we drive a cashless agenda through financial inclusion, we have also undertaken several steps to ensure that our systems are robust enough to provide a secured service.

However, Mr. Eli Hini, cited the following security tips:
-Disregard calls from anonymous callers and unknown persons claiming they have goods from abroad to be delivered to you.
• Or offering to assist you to perform a transaction as a result of network challenges.

• Mobile Money Limited will not demand any amount from you to redeem your supposed prizes

• Do not use your PIN for a very long period; change your PIN at least every month.

• Mobile Money Limited will NOT under any circumstances, ask for your MM PIN CODE.

“As a result of the system enhancements, MTN was granted ISO/IEC 27001: 2013 certification after an assessment conducted by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).

This ISO/ IEC 27001: 2013 certification demonstrates that MTN Mobile Money has enhanced services that meet international standards”, he explained.

He, therefore, urged all and sundry to keep money on their MoMo wallet and to use it in day to day payment activities. “We are happy to say that MTN MoMo is safe and secure and it is also ISO certified.”
