MTN Ghana, the country’s leading telecommunications service provider, has taken another judicious step by launching an innovative digital platforms dubbed: “MTN Shortz and MTN Shortz Challenge.”
MTN Shortz is a platform that will empower their customers digitally and also serve as a reference point for them to access short video content like comedy, animation, podcast, games and films.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the MTN Shortz, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson, stressed the need to make smartphones more relevant during this digital age as they poised to create relevant contents that would inform, entertain and educate the user.
This he said, MTN is committed to ensuring that their customers enjoy the full benefit of
the internet and emergence of digital technology.
“While driving the vision, MTN continues to find innovative ways in ensuring that we contribute to bridge the digital divide in Ghana by churning out very innovative products and services,” he added.
In order to boost content injection on the MTN Shortz platform and create the opportunity for content developers to monetize their creation.
MTN is inviting content creators, animators, game developers, newspaper houses, movie producers, TV stations, radio stations, bloggers, and social media experts to submit very innovative contents on MTN Shortz platform to participate in the MTN Shortz Challenge.
“Content could be on health, education and any other issue of social importance. We hope to receive very exciting and thought provoking contents from various developers,” he noted.
According to him, applicants interested in the challenge would have to visit mtn.com.gh/Shortz and provide necessary personal details for registration from August 8 till August 27, with participant standing a chance of winning a total cash prize of Ghc 50,000.00
“We are expecting content in the following categories:
1. Short films (5 to 10 minutes)
2. Funny Videos
Participants of the MTN Shortz Challenge stand the chance of winning cash prizes up to a total of GHC 50,000.00

• The best Games wins GHC 5,000
• The best Podcast wins GHC 5,000
• The Best Animation wins GHC 5,000
Overall best Content (Video, Games, Animation, and Podcast) CHC 15,000
• Best Trending video on Social media GHC 2,000
• Best Comedy GHC 2,000
• Best Shot on Phone Film GHC 2,000
• Best Local Language Video GHC 2,000
This he said, the content should be generated locally, as they would use the platform to encourage the rich cultural heritage of Ghana.
The MTN Shorts challenge presents an opportunity for all of us to tell the African story or share information on the Ghana’s culture and any other useful information required for life.
