Several foreign institutions have temporarily closed their Ghanaian branches due to the threat of COVID-19 in the West African country.
The Embassy of Norway in Ghana shut down here on Friday after a senior staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
“The person is in quarantine, and the embassy is in close dialogue with the Ghana Health Service as routine contact tracing has commenced,” the embassy said in a statement, adding all other employees were also in quarantine.
Meanwhile, United Nations (UN) agencies in Ghana have asked their employees to work from home.
“One of the two cases of COVID-19 announced by the government is a UN staff member who worked in one of the UN buildings up until the morning of 12 March,” a UN statement said.
In a related development, the International Monetary Fund on Friday asked its staff in Ghana to work from home until further notice. Enditem
