Tamale Central lawmaker Murtala Mohammed has expressed confidence that John Dramani Mahama will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections, citing the economic performance during Mahama’s administration as superior to the current state.
Speaking to TV3’s Mawuena Egbeta at the venue for the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale today, Mohammed challenged the ruling NPP’s economic track record. “Which aspect of the economy has the NPP done better than the NDC?” he questioned.
Mohammed further predicted significant electoral gains for the NDC in the Northern region. “NDC will win at least 14 seats in the Northern region,” he asserted.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is launching its 2024 General Elections campaign in Tamale today, Saturday, July 27. National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia highlighted that the party will adopt a fresh campaign approach this year, emphasizing door-to-door outreach strategies.
The NDC will unveil its manifesto at the event, outlining critical policies addressing national challenges. These include proposals for establishing a 24-hour economy, abolishing ex-gratia payments, and facilitating the export of nurses to combat unemployment among healthcare professionals.
The campaign launch will feature prominent party figures, including flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and members of the Council of Elders.
Reflecting on Tamale’s choice for the campaign launch, Murtala Mohammed underscored the importance of regional inclusivity in the party’s electoral strategy. “The NDC has already launched its campaign in other regions. It is fitting that we rotate the venue for the launch,” he emphasized.
As the election season unfolds, Murtala Mohammed’s endorsement of Mahama’s candidacy sets the stage for a spirited electoral contest, with the NDC positioning itself to engage voters across Ghana on critical issues shaping the nation’s future.
