THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER,
ECONOMIC AND ORGANISED CRIME OFFICE (EOCO),
PETITION FOR THE ARREST/INVITATION OF MR. GEORGE BLANKSON, THE FORMER COMMISSIONER OF GHANA REVENUE AUTHORITY AND OTHER GRA OFFICIALS
I respectfully petitioned your high office for the arrest/invitation of MR. GEORGE BLANKSON concerning the issuance of dud cheques to the GRA by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama.
The dubious acts against the state by Mr. Ibrahim Mahama since 2015 with criminal intention to defraud the nation cannot be placed at the doorstep of any state institution or individual but the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Looking at the situation and the facts, a crime has been committed and the GRA officials who supervised the transaction must not be left free.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama as we are all aware took undue advantage of his brother’s political power but I personally think there is more to that.
Ghana Revenue Authority is a state institution mandated by law in collection of all revenues and brought to book those who evade or defraud the nation in this aspect.
I was immobilized with shock and in total confusion for GRA to have allowed not one, two, three or at worst ten but forty-four (44) dud cheques from a businessman. This is a trend and very suprising.
I see this to be intentional and officials who see to this transactions must be questioned. The amount involve is colossal and could have gone a long way to contribute to the growth of our nation.
I called on your high office to arrest/invite MR. GEORGE BLANKSON since he was the commissioner in charge of the said office.
The indifference with which people are treated at the Ghana Revenue Authority and other state institutions leaves me wondering if this is the best Ghana can present to the world. They conjure their own figures and then slap you with what they term as the correct duty. Businesses in this institutions is done with favoritism and nepotism.
As the two Economics professors, Daron Acemaglu and James A. Robinson reveals in their book (research) tittled “WHY NATIONS FAIL” that not geography, disease or culture that explain why some nations are rich and some are poor but rather a matter of institutions, institutions and institutions.
It is high time the institutions of this nation conduct its business based on equality and accountable to the people.
Thank you for reading my petition and I trust and believe that it will be given much attention.
