Gender violence

Namibia on Tuesday celebrated human rights day with government declaring that the country has laid a solid foundation in cementing human rights and created an equal society where women and children are protected.

Speaking at the commemoration of the Human Rights Day, Namibian Vice President Nangolo Mbumba said the government will continue to improve laws to protect women against Gender-Based Violence.

“The government will root out the ills of gender-based violence in our society and I call upon all Namibians to shun violence against women and declare that there is no room for GBV in our society,” Mbumba said.

He added that human rights in Namibia are well enshrined in the country’s constitution and all members of society are expected to respect the rights of women. Enditem
