Namibia’s Electoral Commission (ECN) is satisfied with the state of preparedness for the forthcoming presidential elections, a senior ECN officer told Xinhua on Thursday.

Electronic voting machines will be used in the polls, scheduled for Nov. 27, ECN director of elections Theo Mujoro said.

The commission is satisfied with voter education, he said, adding that 1,235,020 people have registered for voting.

“The ECN adopted a number of strategies to ensure an all-encompassing approach to engage with all eligible voters and general public through the use of traditional media, ECN’s social media as well as outreach programs,” Mujoro said.

The forthcoming elections will usher in a new term for the winning presidential candidate, members of parliament as well councillors for various municipalities across Namibia. Enditem
