Namibia’s annual inflation rate slowed to 2.5 percent compared to 5.6 percent recorded in November 2018, based on the November 2019 price movements, the country’s statistics agency revealed Wednesday.
Statistician-General Alex Shimuafeni said on a monthly basis, the inflation rate stood at 0.1 percent compared to 0.2 percent registered a month earlier.
The decrease emanated from decreases registered mainly in sectors including transport, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, health, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and housing.
Shimuafeni said for November 2019, the food and non-alcoholic beverages annual inflation rate stood at 2.9 percent compared to 4.7 percent registered during the same period last year, resulting in a decrease of 1.8 percentage points.
Meanwhile, he said the twelve months’ annual average and monthly average inflation rates from December 2018 to November 2019 stood at 3.9 percent and 0.2 percent. Enditem
