Namibian President Hage Geingob, in his post-election address Monday evening, confirmed that former ministers, Sacky Shanghala and Bernhardt Esau, will not be going to parliament in 2020.
The president said the move follows the ruling party SWAPO’s politburo decision to remove them from the party list because of allegations linking them to the international fishing bribery scandal.
The two former ministers and co-accused are implicated in an international fishing bribery scandal, which reportedly generated kickbacks of at least 10 million U. S. dollars.
They are currently in custody over the allegations and will remain in custody until Feb. 20, 2020, to allow for further investigations. Enditem
