Namibia’s Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the Namibia Premier League (NPL) appeal against the FIFA Normalization Committee (NC).

The NPL was appealing a high court ruling in favour of the Namibia Football Association’s (NFA) FIFA NC. The NPL appeal comes after an urgent application they filed, demanding that the NC reinstates them as a member after their suspensions.

Their suspensions was on Oct. 1, 2019.

The members noted that their suspensions were illegal, hence approached the courts to have the suspensions set aside.

The NPL also wanted the Nov. 9, 2019 extraordinary congress to be put aside.

The NPL’s appeal was filed before the Supreme Court on December 30, 2019, and has further delayed the start of Namibia’s football season.

“We feel vindicated but the ruling is a sense of relief and we welcome that specific verdict by the highest court of the country. We have known for a long time that we were within our rights,” NC chairperson Hilda Basson-Namundjebo said. Enditem
