WINDHOEK – Following an unimpressive 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Ghana, Namibia’s young Gladiators Under-20 squad still hold onto their slim hope of coming out tops and will be aiming for a win when they lock horns with Ghana this Saturday in their second leg at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Head coach of the national women football, Jacqueline Shipanga, said that teamwork will do the trick and win it for the Young Gladiators who will be without some keys players.
“We don’t rely on individual brilliance but teamwork and on the coming Saturday, we will see that on the pitch
It is a must-win game for us, since we are playing at home. We even went the extra mile of negotiating with some understanding parents and schools to allow the girls to be part of the squad and I hope to reap some good results come Saturday – Shipanga.
The team will be without Thomalia Adams who could not make it from Germany due to her club’s pre-season commitments, but defender Veweziwa Kotjipati, also based in Germany, has made it to the team. Other players that didn’t make it into the final squad due to injuries are Annnouska Meyer, Scholastica Ndara, Jane Toivo and Eddelissingh Naris.
The full squad reads as follows:
Agnes Kauzuu, Lovisa Mulunga, Ndapewa Iipinge, Lena Noreses, Lorraine Jossob, Vitapamwe Kamahene, Veweziwa Kotjipati, Albertha Dawes, Thandi Malo, Annouscka Kordom, Julian Blou, Mellisa Matheus, Carmel Don, Camatha Uiras, Vistorine Shaangula, Burny Dennis, Depney Naobes and Anna Shikusho.
