Founder and Leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, has chastised the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for plundering the country into economic mess.
She said the Mahama-led administration has mismanaged the country’s resources to the point that economic hardships were not exclusive in a few but rather all Ghanaians.
The former first lady was speaking at the ceremony yesterday to unveil the Greater Accra Regional executives of the party in Accra, yesterday.
According to her, the governance employed by the NDC was a clear violation of the rights of citizens, and there was the need to resist it.
“Violence against a people does not only come in physical forms, but mismanaging our resources for one’s selfish gains, inflating costs of projects and lying about the state of the economy is a violation of our rights to live as Ghanaians,” Nana Agyeman Rawlings stressed.
She urged Ghanaians to speak up against “a government, transforming our lives negatively with inefficient policies and practice,” adding that, “the conscience of the society lies with intellectuals and it’s about time these intellectuals speak against the downward trend in morals by people in government.”
