Nana Yaw Amponsah beat a strong competition from ex-international Samuel Osei Kuffour and journalist cum lawyer, Elloeny Amande to be appointed Asante Kotoko Chief Executive.
Kuffuor, a former Bayern Munich star and Karela United boss Elloeny Amande are believed to have been contacted for the top job.
But the Board of Directors of the club settled on the Phar Rangers owner after a thorough search, and handed him a three-year deal.
The position became vacant after GFA Executive Council member George Amoako was sacked as part of the club’s restructuring process.
The club under new board launched a bid to find a new CEO and there were many interested applicants.
He was unveiled last Friday. This is after a meeting with the club owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He was a former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant at the last elections, and many football fans see his new role as another grand opportunity to serve Ghana Football since Kotoko is a big club in Ghana and Africa.
