Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, has expressed strong confidence that the party can secure 85% of the presidential vote in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
Speaking at the launch of the NPP campaign team in the region, Dr Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, highlighted the party’s track record of surpassing expectations and defying political predictions.
He recalled how the NPP overcame doubts in the 2016 elections despite criticisms directed at then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasized the party’s significant development efforts in Ashanti, including numerous road and school projects.
He believed that with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the presidential candidate, the NPP is well-positioned to achieve its 85% vote target.
He urged Ashanti Region supporters to show appreciation for President Akufo-Addo’s leadership by backing the NPP in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also announced plans for an extensive door-to-door campaign and stressed that the dynamics of the 2024 elections are different from previous years, thanks to a new generation of dynamic candidates.
While acknowledging potential dissatisfaction among some voters, Dr. Opoku Prempeh remains optimistic that the Akufo-Addo administration’s overall achievements will secure strong support for the NPP in the region.
