A new women’s group named “NAPO Ladies” has been officially established to bolster the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign efforts as it aims to secure a historic victory in the upcoming general elections.
The voluntary group is dedicated to supporting NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. NAPO Ladies seeks to harness the influence and enthusiasm of NPP women to advance the party’s objectives in the 2024 elections.
Historically, women within the NPP have played a crucial role in the party’s success at various levels. Their contributions have been instrumental in past electoral victories and the governments’ achievements led by Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo.
As the NPP aims to break the eight-year electoral cycle in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, NAPO Ladies will be at the forefront of these efforts. The formation of this group is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the party’s presidential ticket and work towards a decisive win on December 7, 2024.
Maame Yaa Dufie, the coordinator of NAPO Ladies, highlighted the group’s mission: “Through advocacy and related activities, NAPO Ladies will fully support our presidential candidate and his running mate to communicate their message of hope to the Ghanaian electorate.”
Dufie emphasized the group’s commitment to promoting the achievements of previous NPP governments, including the flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the digitization program. The group aims to mobilize support, particularly from the youth, to ensure a solid electoral performance for the NPP.
“We stand united in our pursuit of mobilizing support and campaigning relentlessly for the NPP to make history,” the statement concluded.
