The race to succeed Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South has commenced following his confirmation as Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh, known as ‘NAPO’, was officially endorsed as the running mate by the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, July 4. This endorsement is significant as it positions him as a key figure in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
President Akufo-Addo expressed enthusiasm for the ticket, calling it an “excellent pairing.”
Shortly after NAPO’s confirmation, campaign posters of Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the Manhyia South Constituency Treasurer and NAPO’s biological brother, surfaced. Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, indicates his intention to contest the parliamentary seat.
Sources indicate that other potential candidates are also engaging with delegates in discreet meetings, intensifying the competition for the Manhyia South constituency.
