Golden Arms, the National Armwrestling team has paid a courtesy call on Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Mr Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Arm wrestling Federation led the delegation to present their medals to the Minister.

The Golden Arms won 22 medals and placed second at the just ended African Armwrestling Championship in Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Mr Asiamah praised the team for their performance and urged the arm wrestlers to continuing making Ghana proud in their subsequent competitions.

“On behalf of the president of Ghana, I want to congratulate you for this remarkable achievement. I am not surprised at all with your performance because I have monitored you for a while now and I am proud of you all.

“The federation has done well so far, you have been going round hunting for talents and I am happy with that. You are not concentrating on Accra alone and that was why you were able to assemble the best wrestlers.

“I want to urge other federations to follow suit, they must make the games strong in the country before thinking of travelling for international competitions. The games are for Ghanaians and they must understand that first”, Mr. Asiamah said.

Mr. Asiamah promised that the Government would support the Federation as they prepare to host the African Armwrestling Championship in Accra next year.

“I want to assure you that we would give all the support you need to host the championship next year,” he added.
