The Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) Ghana is comfortably leading in telecommunication data subscription in Ghana, Spyghana.com?s sources can reveal.
According to the National Communications Authority (NCA), the regulator of the telecom industry, MTN Ghana leads the data market share with 65.42%. MTN Ghana with 5,819,634 data lines at the end of March, 2013.
Statistics from the NCA website shows that Telecom Data Subscription numbered about 8,895,430 in Ghana at the end of March, 2013.
The figure is a total contribution from all the six telecom operators in Ghana. They are MTN, Tigo, Vodafone, Airtel, Glo and Expresso.
MTN is followed by Tigo with 1,288,496 data lines, representing 14.48% market share while Airtel recorded 867,386 data lines, representing 9.75% market share.
Vodafone Ghana, which is the second mobile network operator in the country, recorded 590,567 as data lines at the end of March, this year bringing the network to the number fourth on the data subscription. Vodafone data is about 6.64% of the market share.
Glo Mobile, the last entrant into the telecom industry in Ghana has 280,007 telecom data lines while Expresso, the only CDMA mobile in Ghana boosts of 49,270 data lines. This represents 0.55%. The data penetration in Ghana is 34.8%, compared to 25,576,625 Ghanaians.
