Former President John Dramani Mahama was praised for his steadfastness and integrity by Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, his running mate in the upcoming elections for Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at the launch of the NDC’s campaign in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, Professor Opoku Agyemang described Mahama as the leader Ghana needs, emphasizing his honesty and commitment to the country’s welfare.

“We are delighted that Mahama did not give up on this country and is ready to lead us again,” she declared. “His leadership will rescue, stabilize, and redeem our nation.”

The event also saw strong statements from NDC leadership against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). General Secretary Fifi Kwetey accused the NPP of clinging to power out of fear of impending corruption charges.

“The upcoming election is a battle between Ghana and the NPP,” Kwetey asserted. “Removing them won’t be easy because they know accountability awaits them. They’ll resort to anything to steal votes, but we are prepared to ensure a fair election.”

National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to guarantee peaceful elections without using security forces to intimidate opposition parties.

“As the commander in chief, your commitment to peaceful elections is crucial,” Nketiah urged during his address at the campaign launch.
Chairman of the NDC campaign team, Professor Joshua Alabi, predicted victory for the NDC in the December 7 elections, urging supporters to protect the integrity of the electoral process.

“Ghana is veering off course under the Akufo-Addo administration,” Alabi criticized. “We will secure your votes and restore our country’s direction.”
Member of Parliament Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings cautioned against bribery attempts to compromise election monitoring, emphasizing the NDC’s commitment to upholding democratic principles.

“We promise zero tolerance for corruption and urge all agents to remain vigilant,” Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized.

National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi echoed the sentiment of change, predicting a shift in government due to dissatisfaction with the current administration.

“The victory of the NDC is imminent,” Gyamfi declared during the campaign launch.

The NDC’s campaign kickoff in Tamale underscored their resolve to challenge the NPP’s grip on power, presenting Mahama as a beacon of integrity and championing fair electoral practices ahead of December’s polls.
