Ali Adolf Mborida, Northern Regional Chairman of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), questioned the leadership capability of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during the party’s campaign launch in Tamale on July 27.
Addressing supporters, Mborida confidently criticized the NPP for alleged economic mismanagement, asserting the unwavering readiness of regional executives to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
In response to Bawumia’s recent comment likening himself to a ‘Driver’s mate and not the Driver,’ Mborida openly doubted Bawumia’s readiness to lead the nation, arguing that [the analogy suggests a lack of confidence in his own leadership abilities, which is not reassuring for a potential leader].
“The North is ready for change; the entire country is ready for change, and, God willing, come December 7, we will witness the change we desire in favour of John Mahama,” Mborida declared, blaming Bawumia for economic difficulties. “We are suffering because our brother Bawumia has destroyed the economy.”
Echoing Mborida’s sentiments at the campaign launch, Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer of the NDC, predicted a shift in power in the 2024 general election, citing dissatisfaction with what he described as the “incompetent Akufo-Addo government.”
“Change is coming. Are you ready for change?” Gyamfi emphasized this during the Tamale event on Saturday, July 27.
