Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of Ghana’s NDC party, has warned President Akufo-Addo sternly, urging him to relinquish power as his predecessors have done peacefully.

This caution follows concerns over Akufo-Addo’s recent statements indicating a reluctance to hand over power to anyone other than the NDC’s John Mahama.

Asiedu Nketia emphasized the importance of a peaceful power transfer in maintaining national harmony and stability, cautioning that any attempt to subvert this process could lead to chaos.

Expressing disappointment in the National Peace Council’s silence on current developments, Asiedu Nketia stressed their responsibility to advise the President on matters of national importance.

He appealed to Ghana’s traditional leaders to uphold their non-partisan stance and speak truth to power, describing President Akufo-Addo as “clueless” and calling for scrutiny of Vice President Bawumia’s credibility.

Asiedu Nketia reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process and upholding democratic principles ahead of this year’s elections.

President Akufo-Addo’s office has yet to respond to Asiedu Nketia’s remarks.
