The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to address a controversy surrounding Nurein Shiabu Migyimah’s withdrawal as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Assin Central.
Following allegations of immoral conduct and anti-party activities, the Central Regional executives withdrew Migyimah’s candidacy and suspended him pending further disciplinary proceedings.
The decision, made by the Regional Functional Executive Committee, has prompted scrutiny from the NDC’s national leadership. A letter summoning the Central Regional Chairman to explain the withdrawal process has been issued, citing concerns over procedural adherence and the constitutional implications of the decision.
The meeting scheduled for July 2, 2024, aims to clarify the circumstances under which Migyimah’s candidature was revoked and to address any discrepancies in the application of party regulations.
The controversy underscores ongoing efforts within the NDC to maintain internal discipline and uphold due process amidst electoral preparations.
