Tamale Central lawmaker Murtala Mohammed has expressed confidence in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ‘s prospects in the upcoming elections, stating they will secure at least 14 parliamentary seats in the Northern region.

Mohammed attributed this optimism to what he perceives as a more robust economic performance during John Dramani Mahama’s presidency compared to the current administration.

Speaking to TV3’s Mawuena Egbeta at the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale today, Mohammed challenged the ruling NPP’s economic record, asking, “Which aspect of the economy has the NPP done better than the NDC?”

The NDC’s 2024 General Elections campaign launch in Tamale features a revised strategy emphasizing door-to-door outreach. The party will unveil its manifesto, highlighting policies such as establishing a 24-hour economy, abolishing ex-gratia payments, and promoting the export of nurses to tackle unemployment in the healthcare sector.

Key figures attending the event include flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, running mate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and members of the Council of Elders.

Reflecting on Tamale’s choice for the campaign launch, Murtala Mohammed emphasized the importance of regional inclusivity in the party’s electoral strategy.

He noted, “The NDC has launched its campaign in other regions, so it is appropriate to rotate the venue for the launch.”

As the NDC gears up for the elections, Murtala Mohammed’s predictions underscore a competitive electoral landscape. The party aims to engage voters across Ghana on critical issues affecting national development.
