Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Okaikwei North are increasingly concerned about internal divisions that could undermine the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.

The growing popularity of Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, the parliamentary candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has intensified these worries.

Asiamah-Adjei has recently attracted significant attention in the constituency by supporting over 100 market women and 50 food vendors.

Her initiatives, which aim to empower women in their businesses, have resonated strongly with the local community and bolstered her standing as a key contender.

The NDC, facing heightened pressure from its supporters, is grappling with internal conflicts that threaten party cohesion.

There are growing fears that this disunity could lead to a “skirt and blouse” voting pattern, where voters might split their ballots between parties for the parliamentary and presidential races, potentially undermining the NDC’s prospects.

A viral audio clip circulating among NDC supporters features a female activist from Akweteyman expressing frustration over the party’s infighting.

“The internal wrangling will not help us. A lot is happening at Achimota, which does not augur well for the party.

The infighting must stop in our stronghold, and such spectacle is not suitable for us,” she said, referring to ongoing tensions within NDC strongholds.

She also highlighted the NPP’s increasing influence in the area, driven by Asiamah-Adjei’s initiatives.

“Come to Achimota Market; the NPP empowers entrepreneurs and gives them goodies.

NDC supporters may vote for skirts and blouses if we are not careful. Why are we fighting in an election year? The internal wrangling should end at Achimota and Akweteyman,” she urged, calling on party leaders to address the discontent and restore unity.
