The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to kick off its 2024 general election campaign today, Saturday, July 27, in Tamale, marking a strategic shift in its approach to directly engaging voters.
National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia announced that the party will introduce a new campaign strategy this year, emphasizing door-to-door outreach efforts to connect more closely with constituents.
A key highlight of the campaign launch will be unveiling the NDC’s manifesto, outlining pivotal policies designed to tackle critical issues facing Ghana. These policies include proposals for establishing a 24-hour economy, eliminating ex-gratia payments, and facilitating the export of nurses to combat unemployment among health professionals.
The event will feature prominent party leaders, including former President John Dramani Mahama, the party’s flagbearer, and his running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang. National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and members of the Council of Elders will also be in attendance.
Tamale Central lawmaker Murtala Mohammed highlighted the party’s commitment to inclusivity and regional engagement by explaining the promotion of Tamale for the campaign launch. “The NDC has already launched its campaign in various regions. It is appropriate to rotate the venue for the launch,” he stated in an interview with TV3’s Mawuena Egbeta.
As the election season gains momentum, the NDC’s campaign kickoff in Tamale signifies a pivotal moment in shaping the discourse around Ghana’s future direction, focusing on issues pertinent to voters nationwide.
