During the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Tamale, Ghana, prominent party figures voiced strong messages ahead of the upcoming elections.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, directly addressed President Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo, urging him to ensure peaceful elections without using security forces to intimidate opposition members.
“Mr. President, as the commander in chief of the Armed Forces, your commitment to a peaceful election will be pivotal. Ensure peaceful elections,” Nketiah emphasized during the Saturday, July 27 event.
Meanwhile, Professor Joshua Alabi, leading the NDC campaign team, expressed confidence in winning the elections scheduled for December 7. He pledged the party’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
“Ghana is on the wrong path under the Akufo-Addo administration,” Alabi remarked, calling on citizens to mobilize and vote for change. “We will protect your votes. Let’s vote for the NDC to steer the country in the right direction,” he asserted.
In alignment with these sentiments, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, highlighted the imperative of election integrity. She cautioned against accepting bribes that could compromise election monitoring, underscoring the NDC’s stance against corruption.
Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Officer, echoed these sentiments, predicting a change in government during the 2024 elections due to the current administration’s incompetence.
“Change is imminent. Get ready for change,” Gyamfi declared, reinforcing the party’s optimism about reclaiming leadership.
The NDC leaders collectively emphasized the need for a fair electoral process and pledged to uphold democratic values while advocating for voter participation and vigilance.
