At the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Tamale, Fifi Kwetey, the party’s General Secretary, acknowledged the formidable task of unseating the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.

Emphasizing the need for diligence and vigilance, he underscored the NPP’s potential efforts to manipulate the electoral process, citing concerns over potential repercussions for corruption allegations if they lose power.

“The election is a battle between Ghana and NPP,” Kwetey highlighted the stakes. “Taking out the NPP is not going to be easy,” he added, urging supporters to remain vigilant to safeguard electoral integrity.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, directed a message to President Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo, urging him to ensure a peaceful electoral environment without intimidation from security forces. He stressed the importance of the president’s commitment to peaceful elections.

Meanwhile, Professor Joshua Alabi, leading the NDC campaign, expressed confidence in their electoral prospects, predicting victory and a peaceful transition of power. He called on Ghanaians to vote for change in large numbers and criticized the current administration’s direction under Akufo-Addo.

In a passionate address, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, highlighted the NDC’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and combating corruption. She warned against financial inducements that compromised election monitoring efforts and stressed the party’s dedication to protecting Ghana’s democracy.

Echoing these sentiments, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC’s National Communications Officer, emphasized that the upcoming election signifies an opportunity for change in response to what he described as the Akufo-Addo government’s incompetence.

The NDC leaders collectively affirmed their commitment to securing electoral victory through transparent means, pledging to uphold democratic values and serve the interests of the Ghanaian people.
