Stan Xoese Dogbe, a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has raised serious allegations about a plot to harm former President John Dramani Mahama in the Ashanti Region.
In a social media post, Dogbe claimed that there were plans to send individuals to attack, shoot, or otherwise harm Mahama and other NDC parliamentary candidates.
Dogbe expressed his disbelief, questioning why those who had signed a peace pact would plan such violence against Mahama and his political allies. His comments come amid rising tensions as Ghana approaches the December 2024 elections.
The allegations were made against the backdrop of a recent incident involving the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan, who, according to earlier reports, had been attacked. However, the Ghana Police Service later clarified that the attack on Gyan and her team was not as initially reported.
The police revealed that the incident occurred when Gyan’s team encountered a vehicle parked in the middle of the road in Adjakaa Manso after returning from a political rally. A misunderstanding between the team and the driver escalated, with some members of the local community getting involved, which resulted in two individuals being injured.
While the police have confirmed that the attack on the MP was not politically motivated, the incident has fueled concerns over political violence and security in the lead-up to the elections. Dogbe’s claims further add to the growing tensions within the political environment as the country prepares for the polls.

Sending men and women to attack, shoot or harm the Man of the People, John Dramani Mahama, while on his tour of the Ashanti Region will not guarantee you a free ride to the Presidency.
You just stood before the world signing a commitment to peace, which many saw through and know you are not sincere about…
Has the National Peace Council and their Consultant, Dr Akwetey heard of the attack on the PC for Amenfi Central?
Planning to attack NDC PCs and John Mahama won’t make it any easier to win Saturday’s election!!
The Lord’s armour is over him. Ghanaians will vote John Mahama, on December 07, no matter what.
Indeed, President Akufo-Addo must be concerned about his legacy and his name as he exits Office, and caution the hawks in his party.
