NDC/NPP supporters clash

Supporters on the two leading parties in this year’s elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reportedly clashed at Deme, a border community in Dzodze in the Ketu North constituency.

The NDC supporters in the area accused the NPP of hiding in the bush to prevent people they perceived to be Togolese.

According to Citi News‘ King Norbert Akpablie, the supporters of the governing party were “lurking in the bush to prevent people they perceived to be Togolese” from crossing the border to vote in the elections.

“The NDC upon hearing the information led by their constituency chairman moved to area to confront them,” King Norbert reported. This led to chaos with some of them being. This led to a confrontation between the two groups and it is as yet unclear how many people were injured in the scuffles. King Norbert also reported that the police have arrived at the scene but initially had issues controlling the crowd.
