James Agbey, an operative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has rebuked former Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho for his persistent verbal attacks on ex-President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of seeking attention and stirring discord within the party.
Agbey’s statement, issued in response to Anyidoho’s recent provocations, criticized him for attempting to disrupt a wreath-laying ceremony honouring the late president. He described Anyidoho’s behaviour as disruptive and detrimental to party unity, suggesting that Anyidoho’s actions stemmed from a personal vendetta against Mahama.
“Koku Anyidoho has continuously targeted John Mahama and the entire NDC membership, acting as if he is above reproach and the law,” Agbey asserted. “His provocative statements and actions resemble those of a petulant child who destroys his toys in a fit of rage.”
Agbey, speaking on behalf of the NDC’s long-standing interests, cautioned Anyidoho to redirect his frustrations elsewhere or seek appropriate professional help if necessary. He warned that Anyidoho’s behaviour could further undermine party cohesion and urged him to cease his divisive tactics.
Recently, Anyidoho challenged Mahama to accept a debate challenge from Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2024 elections, threatening to organize a “No Debate, No Presidency” demonstration if Mahama declined.
“John Mahama’s aides and supporters have indicated he may not participate in any debate,” Anyidoho stated on his platform. “I am awaiting Mahama’s declaration on this matter, and if he refuses to participate, I will lead a massive demonstration.”
The ongoing exchange underscores internal tensions within the NDC as it prepares for the upcoming elections, with Anyidoho’s outspoken challenges to Mahama’s leadership strategies drawing significant attention within political circles.
