Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, pledged on Tuesday that her party is prepared to implement a series of initiatives aimed at alleviating Ghanaians’ economic hardships.
The proposed policies include the 24-Hour Economy policy, the National Apprenticeship Programme, the Women Development Bank, and the Big Push.
Addressing supporters in the Tema East constituency as part of her campaign tour, Opoku-Agyemang urged all registered voters to participate in the ongoing voter exhibition exercise and to cast their votes in favour of Mr John Dramani Mahama and the NDC’s parliamentary candidates in the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
In a separate statement, Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the NDC, endorsed the John and Jane ticket as the optimal solution for navigating Ghana’s current economic challenges.
He highlighted Opoku-Agyemang’s significant achievements, including becoming the first female Vice Chancellor of a public university in Ghana and introducing technical universities and progressively free Senior High School education as Education Minister.
Dr Ofosu Ampofo praised the NDC ticket as the best choice for securing Ghana’s future and providing relief amid the economic difficulties.
He criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its 2016 claims about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s economic expertise, pointing out that Bawumia’s tenure has seen unprecedented challenges, including the highest Cedi-to-Dollar exchange rate and the collapse of businesses and banks.
Emphasizing the need for change, Dr Ofosu Ampofo urged voters to reject Bawumia and support the NDC’s presidential ticket, asserting that the future of Ghana is brighter under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama and Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
