The Adentan branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has organised a one day seminar for its Branch Chairpersons.
The seminar which was held yesterday was organised by the Steering Committee of the NDC Adentan Branch Chairpersons Caucus (ABCC) in collaboration with the Adentan Constituency Executive Committee (CEC) was on the theme “Empowering the grassroots for a formidable party”.
Addressing members of the Caucus, the Convenor of ABCC, Mr. Lennox K. Anab explained that the ABCC was formed with the sole aim to synchronize individual efforts and resources as chairpersons to win both the presidential and parliamentary seats for the NDC come 2020 general elections.
“We are in to assist the Constituency Executive Committee to build capacity of branch executives at the various branches like it is happening today” the Convenor of ABCC said.
He cleared some misconception held by some party faithful’s that the ABCC is in to compete with the Constituency Executive Committee. “The caucus is neither in competition nor in contention with the CEC but to complement their efforts for a common good” Mr. Anab reiterated.
The ABCC Convenor also admonished members to give up their all and fully participate in all party activate to ensure the caucus achieves its set objectives for which it was formed.
On his part the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC, Mr. Joseph Kwabina Ade Coker charged the rank and file of the party from all levels to work assiduously to bring back the NDC to power come 2021.
According to him the party hierarchy has tasked all former government appointees to go to their various constituencies, and regions to support the branches and constituency executives to ensure that the needed resources are available for grassroots’ mobilization.
He however, warned that the party will not give political appointment to anybody who stays away from the party activities especially at the branch level.
“Before one is given appointment in our next government, a critical background check would be conducted at the branch level up to the constituency to ensure that true hard working party people are given the opportunity to serve in government.” Mr. Ade Coker revealed.
We at the region will ensure that the party rewards only committed and hardworking members at the grassroots. He added.
Meanwhile, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi Constituency and the current Volta Regional NDC Vice Chairman, Mr. George Loh who made a presentation on the topic; “Leadership: The role of the branch chairpersons towards election 2020” tasked participants at the seminar to be proactive and conscious of time.
He entreated them to show care and compassion to each and every person they meet on their way and also initiates special events/activities aside their normal meetings. The Volta Regional NDC Vice Chairman believes will attract more people into their fold thus brightens the fortunes of the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.
