James Agbey, a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stark and urgent warning to Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the NPP’s running mate, cautioning them against any attempts to manipulate the upcoming 2024 elections in the Ashanti Region.
Agbey’s statement follows earlier remarks by Chairman Wontumi suggesting that the NPP had various strategies to secure victory in the forthcoming elections.
“As a loyal citizen and operative of the NDC, I am using this opportunity to caution these political figures to tread carefully,” Agbey asserted.
Agbey warned, “There will be severe repercussions if Wontumi and NAPO engage in any wrongful actions ahead of the 2024 general elections, potentially leading to a significant loss of public trust in the democratic process.”
He urged the leadership to heed the calls for change from the Ghanaian populace and emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law.
“It is time for them to step down from their pedestals and acknowledge that the NPP’s tenure is nearing its end. They must demonstrate a genuine commitment to democratic principles,” Agbey remarked.
The warning underscores escalating tensions in the lead-up to the elections, highlighting concerns over electoral integrity and fair practices in one of Ghana’s pivotal regions.

NDC Operative warns Wontumi and Napo not to make any wrong move in Ashanti Region
Once again, we are saddled with the eccentricity of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Wontumi.
He is in the news doubling down on his rather irresponsible claim that the NPP have one million ways of winning the 2024 elections, and that they will win by hook or crook.
Wontumi claim to have received sensitive information from a mutual friend of Lordina Mahama, wife of former President John Mahama, and for that reason, he is unrelenting with his dubious plot to cause confusion in the Ashanti Region in the run up to 2024 general elections.
More to the point, I have it on good authority that vigilante elements, the infamous “invincible forces” are being trained in readiness to destabilize the processes leading up to the elections.
We are being told the NPP running mate, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) and Wontumi are engaging in this clandestine move to intimidate NDC supporters in the Ashanti Region.
In many ways, this obviously is more likely strong evidence that the NPP continue to muddy the waters or to put it more plainly deflect attention from their failures and misdemeanours in government.
In fact, I have gotten so much information regarding Wontumi and Napo’s plan for the Ashanti Region in the forthcoming general election.
These bunch of cowards are bent on taking this country back to the dark days.
I recall how the NPP in recent times was accused of breeding and arming thugs as well as fake security operatives to harass and attack Ghanaians.
Even in our recent past here in Ghana, we have seen how violence almost swallowed us in Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, and the ugly situation in 2020 general elections where about eight persons were shot and killed at the Techiman South election results collation centre during the 2020 elections.
I’ve been in and out of the Ashanti Region dozens of times, and closely monitoring every moves of Wontumi and Napo.
Truth is, there would be dire consequences if Wontumi, Napo and their likes make any wrong move ahead of the 2024 general elections.
As a fonafide citizen and operative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I’m using this statement to caution these political bandits to watch their ways.
Let this be the moment where leadership of this country listens and acts with integrity.
I admonish them to heed the voices of the people of Ghana who are calling for change, and come down from their high horses and accept the fact that the NPP has come to the end of the road. It is time for them to demonstrate a sincere commitment to rule of law.
The nation cannot afford to the return to the dark days due to the carelessness of the likes of Wontumi and Mathew Opoku-Prempeh. It would be in their interest to halt their disruptive ways and truancy in the Ashanti Region or face the wrath of the Ghanaian people.
The banditry of Wontumi and Napo in the Ashanti Region shall not be countenanced going into 2024.
Signed:
James Agbey (NDC OPERATIVE)
