Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, delivered a bold proclamation during the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Tamale on Saturday, July 27, asserting that the 2024 general elections will culminate in a victory for John Dramani Mahama, forcing President Akufo-Addo to hand over power peacefully.

“The 2024 election is not a coronation but an election that Mahama will win. You will have no option but to hand power to him,” Iddrisu declared, emphasizing Mahama’s experience and readiness to lead Ghana.

Iddrisu’s statement underscored growing confidence within the NDC as they gear up to challenge the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He urged President Akufo-Addo to ensure a peaceful electoral process, urging him not to misuse security forces to intimidate political opponents.

The NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, echoed these sentiments, calling on President Akufo-Addo to guarantee fair elections without intimidation tactics.

Meanwhile, Professor Joshua Alabi, Chairman of the NDC campaign team, predicted the NPP’s defeat in the upcoming elections and pledged the NDC’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the ballot.

“We will protect your votes and ensure Ghana moves away from the current wrong direction under the Akufo-Addo administration,” Alabi assured supporters.

Member of Parliament Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized the importance of election monitoring integrity, urging NDC agents to reject any attempts at bribery.

“The NDC stands for zero tolerance towards corruption. We must uphold our principles and protect the sanctity of our democratic process,” Agyeman-Rawlings asserted during the campaign launch.

National Communications Officer Sammy Gyamfi echoed a message of impending change, forecasting a shift in government due to dissatisfaction with the current administration.

“The victory of the NDC is inevitable,” Gyamfi proclaimed, reflecting the party’s optimism and determination as the campaign season intensifies.

The NDC’s launch in Tamale was a rallying point for supporters and leaders alike, positioning Mahama as the candidate poised to lead Ghana forward amidst promises of electoral integrity and accountability.
